The results of a new survey show the majority of people who live in rented accommodation are failing to make a Will.
This survey was carried out by MoneySuperMarket and 2,000 people took part. The organisation spoke to both renters and homeowners, so it could make a comparison. What the results reveal is that just under one quarter of people who rent have sorted out a Will. The total number who told the survey they have a Will in place was 24%.
Another worrying finding from the survey is the number of renters who plan to get a Will made out. One out of every seven of those who participated in it stated this was not something they had even thought about.
It is possible those who do not own property feel there is less need for them to contact Will writing solicitors in North Wales. Speaking to Today’s Wills and Probate, Kara Gammell from MoneySuperMarket pointed out how wrong that is:
“ONS data shows that renters are more likely to be living with an unmarried partner, which means intestacy can have serious real-world consequences – from disputes over tenancy deposits to a surviving partner losing their home entirely.”
The situation is in stark contrast to that of people who own their homes. Close to half of them told the survey they have made a Will.
