The annual National Wills Report has found, a number of issues from 2025 that may be of interest to Will writing solicitors in North Wales.
These include details of the continuing use of legal experts when Wills are made, and that a growing number of people are intent on making their Will at some point in the future.
However, there are still some concerns that may cause alarm to solicitors. Although many people plan on making a Will, the numbers of those actually carrying this out have decreased this year. 34% of the eligible population have said they will look at making a Will shortly, but until this happens, this leaves a large proportion of individuals who could potentially leave their families and loved ones in dispute when they die.
Another troubling statistic revealed by the report is that nearly 30% of those who do have a Will have what known as a ‘shadow Will’. These are documents that are not stored correctly with Wills solicitors in North Wales, meaning, if they die, their families will not know where this document is stored.
Other interesting details gleaned from the report show that younger people still tend to be the biggest demographic without a Will, and that despite recent developments in technology, most people still prefer to have a paper Will.
