Women’s Aid has announced the launch of a new long-term strategy for bringing domestic violence to an end.
The charity is calling this strategy ‘Power, purpose and voice – the pathway to ending domestic abuse.’ The ideas contained within it are intended to be implemented over the next 10 years. The charity states that the basis for those ideas is a dedication to ensuring women and children who are the victims of such abuse receive justice. It also states that a mix of courage and compassion is at the heart of its new strategy.
One of the aims outlined in the document is improved funding for the domestic abuse sector so this provision is available to everyone who needs it. Another is for organisations in the sector to work together on providing holistic protection for victims.
Other parts of the strategy call for a zero-tolerance attitude to domestic abuse and for survivors and key services to be empowered during policy making. These are all ideas a domestic violence solicitor in North Wales or England will happily support.
