Recommendations put forward by the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee to make property transactions smoother have won the support of the Conveyancing Association (CA).
This trade body has indicated the ideas suggested by the Select Committee address issues that have long troubled those within the sector. Among the matters that they deal with are ones concerning costs, delays and failed transactions. The findings of the Committee were that the current system is too expensive and inefficient, to the point of actively holding the property market back.
One recommendation that has earned the backing of the CA is the call for more information about properties to be made available upfront. The CA has stated this would help everyone from homebuyers to conveyancing solicitors in North Wales in making early decisions.
In turn, this would cut back on delays and problems later in the process that can cause transactions to fall apart. The CA pointed out one of the major reasons for transaction failures and delays is a lack of information upfront. This leads to wasted time and expense.
Beth Rudolf works for the CA as its director of delivery. She was quoted by The Intermediary as saying:
“Upfront information, including searches, is essential. If buyers and lenders have the data they need from the outset, we can remove a significant amount of delay and uncertainty from the process.”
