The Legacy Giving Report, published in 2025, has revealed some interesting statistics about how much people are leaving their favourite charities in their Wills.
For example, in 2025 there has been a 22% increase in the number of testators who have included a charitable donation when they are planning their estate with their Will writing Solicitors in North Wales.
A total of 46,000 estates have included a donation this year, and it has been estimated that every year there is an increase in the number of these types of gifting. For charities, this represents an almost 30% of their overall donations, which demonstrates the significance of these legacies.
One of the most revealing pieces of information in the report shows that many of the donations are made to charities which support those with disabilities and for animal welfare activities. Most of the estates where a charitable donation was included was worth on average almost six hundred thousand pounds. By 2030, it is anticipated that the levels of donations will rise overall to approximately five billion pounds per annum.
Wills solicitors in North Wales may also have noticed regional differences in gifting to charities. Legal experts are still uncertain at this time, however, how the new inheritance tax rules, introduced in the 2025 Autumn budget will impact on donations in the longer-term.
