In 2025, reports commissioned largely by HM Courts and Tribunal Service revealed a growing number of people are dying without making a Will. Many are also failing to use the services of Will making solicitors in North Wales.
At the end of 2024, a new report was published that proposed to modernise divorce and its financial implications.
Although assisted dying is currently illegal in the UK, it is anticipated that it may be made available once the bill has been passed through Parliament.
In January 2023, a pilot governing the reporting of court cases pertaining to family law was introduced. This meant that reporters and other approved personnel were allowed to attend court and report on the dealings that they witnessed – including the role of family law barristers in North Wales.
During recent consultations about modernising Will writing in the UK, one of the proposals presented involved the idea of destroying existing written Wills to be replaced by new digital versions.
It has been reported by various estate agents that house sales during the first half of 2025 have increased. Demand for more homes has also escalated, yet overall, house prices have not risen.
The legal age of being able to make a Will in the UK is currently 18. This baseline age was outlined in the Wills Act 1837 and has only just recently been reviewed.
