Can one spouse empty a joint bank account during divorce?
When a relationship breaks down, money issues often
Read postA new study shows that younger workers place a high value on employer flexibility when they are in the midst of a divorce or separation.
This study is the work of Ellisons Solicitors and a total of 349 people took part in it. The results show a clear age divide when it comes to this issue. Among those between 35 and 54 years of age, 54% said companies should provide flexible options for workers who are going through divorce or separation. For those in the 18 to 34 age bracket, the figure was 48%.
Meanwhile, the figure was notably lower among those in the 55 or over age range. Just 34% of them believe companies should offer such provisions to employees who are separating or divorcing.
Close to half of the participants aged between 35 and 54 think that paid leave should be offered. They cited the issues involved, including arranging childcare, attending mediation and meetings with separation solicitors in North Wales or England.
When it comes to employees who are 55 or over, only 24% believe paid leave should be an option. A similar generation gap emerged when the question of mental health support came up. Nearly half of workers in the younger age ranges thought companies should offer it, compared with 24% of older workers.
Lisa Dawson from Ellisons said the results showed a generational shift in attitudes towards the workplace.
