Call for conveyancers to contribute to digital reform process

A call has been put out to conveyancing professionals asking them to contribute to the planned digitisation of the home moving process.

The National Property Transaction Network for LMS Conveyancing recently hosted a webinar. During it, host Travis Scholes said conveyancing solicitors in North Wales and England need to actively contribute to this process, rather than passively waiting for it to happen. Scholes works for LMS as a commercial director.

This webinar attracted a lot of interest within the industry. Over 180 top sector professionals took part in it. Meanwhile, the main panel featured the likes of Maria Harris from the Open Property Data Association and Conveyancing Association director of delivery Beth Rudolf.

They spoke about what progress there has been so far on digitising the process of moving. They also emphasised the need for professionals in all areas of the UK property sector to work together.

According to Today’s Conveyancer, Harris stated:

“A huge amount of input into getting these things right is having frontline business and operational people in the room, so that we can shape any proposals around real transactions and what obstacles are actually holding them up.”

One point every member of the panel was in agreement about was that some reforms will be obligatory very soon. These include sales packs and material information. They argued conveyancing firms that prepare for this now will reap the benefits.
